The Rally Islas Canarias, back to the calendar this year, opens the 2016 FIA European Rally Championship. There are altogether nearly one hundred teams signed up, amongst them as many as eight Polish ones. Rallytechnology will present its Peugeot 208 R2 cars with the current Polish Champions Łukasz Habaj and Piotr Woś, as well as Tomasz Gryc and Michał Kuśnierz.

The teams will compete on twelve special stages of a total length of 200 kilometres. The race begins on Friday with the longest Moya stage (almost 25 kilometers). For Habaj and Woś this start is an ideal form of getting to know the competition of the Old Continent. Definitely we are going to try our best here, - says the driver. For me, driving by notes, with no prior knowledge of the ss-s will certainly be challenging. At Polish championships if I don’t remember a corner, at least I know where I am. And from what I could see in the on-boards of the previous edition of this rally in fact all the turns look alike - he says.

No pressure but not relax either is also Gryc and Kuśnierz’s motto. I am very happy to have the opportunity to start in a discipline completely new to me, comments the driver. It is such a great fun when you sit behind the wheel of such fantastic car like Peugeot 208 R2 and get to test it and yourself on ss-s completely different than those in Poland. The multitude of surfaces, weather conditions and landscapes - all that makes me want to push forward in mastering the technique on the new ground and in the new environment.

The distance from Poland to the islands makes the very start a big logistical challenge. It took us practically a week to get to the site. It’s a big logistical challenge but we already can’t wait to start the first stage. We are going to do some tests just before the rally to gain a proper understanding of the local tracks adds the head of the team, Robert Gabryszewski.
