The season of Polish Rally Championship has started. More than 50 crews came to Świdnica for the first round of the cycle – the 44th Świdnica Rally-KRAUSE. There were also four Rallytechnology crews at the start line, headed by the current Polish Champion, Łukasz Habaj.
Ford Fiesta R5 Evo, driven by Łukasz Habaj with Jacek Spentany returning in the right co-driver’s seat, started the rally well, leading after four special stages. During the fifth approach, a puncture caused them to drop down to third place. The crew managed to at least partially come back from behind, taking the vice-leader position. ”The end of the race was very exciting.. Kuba Brzeziński pushed hard taking the runner-up position from Łukasz. During the deciding, one but last aproach, our driver unfortunately wiped out and damaged the suspension, which made it impossible for him to continue. Łukasz can’t get rid of the bad luck in this rally. Happily, last year’s season showed that later it was only better, and we hope for the same also this year,” says Rallytechnology team’s head, Robert Gabryszewski.
In turn, the Peugeot 208 R2 duos, representing the team from Rybnik, did great. After four trials they occupied all three top positions in the 2WD cars classification. Unfortunately, later Tomasz Gryc and Michał Kuśnierz „visited the shoulder” loosing nearly three minutes and loosing the fight for the podium. Eventually, they completed the rally in the fifth position in their class. On the other hand, Dariusz Poloński with Grzegorz Dobosz, and Zbigniew Gabryś with Artur Natkaniec did superbly well until the very finish, putting up an amazing show and one of the most cut and thrust competition of that rally. „Both duos performed at 100 %. Although Zbyszek led for the most part of the rally, the finish belonged to Darek. The cars had no problems whatsoever in bringing the Poloński/Dobosz duo to the finish line on the fifth position, right before Gabryś and Natkaniec. Both crews also stood on the top steps of the podium in 2WD and 4 class, respectively. It’s a great success and we are very proud of that!” adds Gabryszewski.
There is no time to rest after the Świdnicki rally. Coming up this weekend is the Silesian Rally Championship. In the first round, Mikołowsko-Żorski Rally, Rallytechnology is going to be represented by four Peugeot 208 R2. Tomasz Gryc with Michał Kuśnierz, Robert Mąsior with Łukasz Bobrowski and Przemysław Lizończyk with Maciej Chrupcała will ride in the guest class, while Arkadiusz Lechoszest with Paweł Drahan will debut in the RO R class.
