RALLYTECHNOLOGY CREWS DOING GREAT IN
THE GERMAN RALLY OF LAUSITZ

As every year, the Lausitz Rally attracted particular crowds of competitors, including those from Poland. Two crews from our country were serviced by the Rallytechnology team of Rybnik. Daniel Chwist and Dariusz Burkat competed with their Hyundai i20 R5, while Sylwester Płachytka and Jacek Nowaczewski made their debut behind the wheel of the Ford Fiesta R5. Daniel Chwist shows up almost every year on the German gravel. This time the driver of Hyundai i20 R5 seven times finished in the top ten, which at the end gave him a very high sixth place in the general classification.
For Sylwester Płachytka the 21st Lausitz rally was the first start in four years. The driver, returning to the regular racing debuted this weekend in an R5 car, and immediately scored great times. Despite his very modest experience on gravel surface, Plachytka finished with times within the top five, defeating at the same time much more experienced competitors. A flat tire and a broken gearbox housing after hitting one of the bumps kept him, however, from the fight for the podium. Still, despite the bad luck, Płachytka can be very happy with his performance and optimistic about the future.
“Rally Lausitz was a very successful event for us, ” - says Rallytechnology team manager Robert Gabryszewski. “We did not go there to fight for a specific result, but our players from the beginning took up a fight with the top leaders of the rally. Daniel Chwist and Darek Burkat already know these routes very well and know how to use their experience. Although for Daniel it was only the second start this year, he managed to drive clean and very quickly. A big surprise for us was the pace of Sylwester Płachytka, who returned to the rallies after a four years’ break. It was his third start on gravel surface and the first one behind the wheel of the R5 class car. Nevertheless, Sylwester and Jacek did very well in that situation and immediately showed a great pace. We keep our fingers crossed so that we can watch them more often next season.”
