There is only one point left in the team's starts calendar from Rybnik. It is this weekend, on December 6th and 7th, that we are to see the spectacular finale, in which the Rallytechnology team, together with its two crews, will face the special stages of the 57th Barbórka Rally. Zbigniew Gabryś returns to the service tents, this time he will form a duo with Jakub Gerber, and their weapon will be Hyundai i20 R5.
Their rivals in the most populated Class R1 (42 crews) will be the second crew of Rallytechnology - Tomasz Gryc and Przemysław Zawada. After the start in the last round of the Silesian Rally Championship, just like in Cieszyńska Barbórka, now Tomek is betting on Subaru Impreza STi again. Thus, for the third year in a row, in the event at his home ground he will appear behind the wheel of a four-wheel rally car. Both drivers have had 14 performances in Warsaw, of which Gryc has two more, but the interesting fact is that Zbigniew Gabryś returns to Barbórka for the first time since 2007.
More than 100 crews signed up for the Rally Barbórka 2019. They will have to go through six special stages - played in pairs, trials of Modlin, Bemowo and OS Służewiec, which this year returns to the rally. In total, the fight for victory in the Polish rally classic will take place on 29 kilometers, but the qualification for the Aces Criterion on Karowa Street will be equally important in this duel. The fight for the best score on the most iconic special stage in our country could not be left out on Saturday evening.
The first crew will leave SS Modlin at 8:00, and the results of the first part of Barbórka will be announced around 5:00 PM. The competition will move to Karowa from 18:30. Thanks to TVN, the coverage of the rally will also be broadcast on TV.
Robert Gabryszewski (Rallytechnology team manager): The end of the 2019 season is approaching fast. Behind us are months full of hard work, challenges and many emotions, but one more important accent remains ahead of us. In Barbórka Rally we do not fight for points or in any rally series, but the phenomenon of this event is so amazing that its results are tracked by huge crowds of fans, and the competition itself boasts the greatest media interest.
The success achieved in Warsaw is not only an exceptional form of summing up the season, but above all a very prestigious result. Short distance, winding, tight sections and a very strong stake, as well as often capricious weather, makes it extremely difficult to reach for victory here. This is not only a crew test and equipment test, but also a huge nerve test. There is no room to make up for losses, so any mistake can ruin the result.
Barbórka is at the same time a beautiful spectacle and sport celebration, to which we will be able to contribute thanks to our crews. The last preparations and official tests on the Modlin track are behind us, so we are hours away from the start of the competition. The cast of the R1 class is really interesting in this edition, so it's difficult to bet on sure winners, especially since everyone would like to reach for the victory.
