INSIDIOUS HUSTOPEČE – A GOOD LESSON FOR RALLYTECHNOLOGY

Last weekend the best crews of Chech and Slovak Rally Championship competed on over 150 kilometers of special stages of an extremely demanding Rally Hustopeče. The event at our southern neighbors provided the competitors with unexpected weather conditions, which was a particularly demanding challenge on the narrow asphalt roads. Rallytechnology crews showed up there also, with training purpose, and they come back home with precious experience.

Bartłomiej Bogucki debuted in the rally version of Peugeot 208 R2, with his co-driver Paweł Drahan. For Bogucki this start was a big test of a new car. In his case it was particularly important to drive as many kilometers as possible. The crew has completed their plan in 100 percent, which was not easy given that nearly half of the competition did not make it to the finish line. The experience gained in so demanding rally will certainly be effective in the next ones.

The leaders of class four of Polish Rally Championship, Tomasz Gryc and Michał Kuśnierz also started in Rally Hustopeče. For them this start was supposed to be a training before the upcoming Rzeszowski Rally, where they plan to fight for the best possible position. A good pace on the first stages was optimistic but at the third approach, which took place at night, Gryc and Kuśnierz ended their ride in a very insidious point. That same curve left several other crews without chances for a good result. Polish runners-up of last year’s Poland Championship are already thinking about the Rzeszowski Rally, where the best drivers of Europe will meet.

Robert Gabryszewski, Rallytechnology team manager: Hustopeče Rally is characterized by extremely difficult stages, which – combined with changing weather conditions – become even more difficult. So has it been this year. Bartek Bogucki with Paweł Drahan did a great job. A debut in a new car in such conditions was not an easy task but the crew put on a brave face and reached the finish line of this particularly hard rally. Tomek and Michał presented a promising pace on the first two stages but the luck left them on the third one. Such difficult experience, however, teaches us most, therefore I am convinced that will only strengthen them. Right now we are getting ready for the next rally. Keep your fingers crossed!
