Rallytechnology team reached the finish line of another rally abroad. This time the team of Rybnik started in a demanding Lausitz Rally. After over 156 kilometers of special stages, Daniel Chwist and Dariusz Burkat finished in top 10 of this gravel-surface event!
Tomasz Gryc and Michał Kuśnierz from the beginning presented a good pace. In their first start with an R5 class car, after Friday’s special stages they were in top ten! Unfortunately, Tomek Gryc’s progressing flu has forced his crew to withdraw from further competition. Still up and fighting for a good result remained Daniel Chwist and Dariusz Burkat. The crew of Hyundai i20 R5 was feeling better with every next kilometer of the gravel stages of Lausitz Rally, thanks to which eventually they could enjoy the ninth place.
Robert Gabryszewski, Rallytechnology team manager: We have just had a very interesting weekend. After Friday’s special stages our crews were only 1.5 seconds apart. However, already from the beginning of the rally Tomek was struggling with flu, therefore he had to take the hard decision to withdraw from the further racing. A car of R5 class requires the driver’s full focus and perfect condition, which is not possible with such an illness. Yet, the flu goes away while the “R5 virus” is probably going to stay in him, so we might be able to see him at the finish line in this car Daniel with Darek showed a great performance. A place in the top ten in a car still new for them, and considering how strong the competitors were, is a really good result! Keep it up!
