In the schedule of Rallytechnology team starts, it is time for another rally abrodad. Scheduled on 24 - 26 May, Liepaja Rally will be the third round of the European Rally Championship. For the second time this year, the Abarth Rally Cup will also take part in the fight for points. Also Dariusz Poloński and Łukasz Sitek, serviced by Rallytechnology will be there. After a successful debut and podium in the Italian brand series, the Poles will face another challenge this coming weekend. After the asphalt experience with the rear drive, currently the third Abarth Rally Cup crew, now it will compete on a loose surface.
Liepaja Rally, in Poland called the Rally of Liepaja, this year comprises as many as 206 kilometers of gravel special stages. On Friday, the schedule included a qualifying stage, and the main part of the competition fell on two weekend days. Five trials have been scheduled for the Saturday stage, including the longest OS Ramirent, 28.68 km long. Sunday, on the other hand, brought two more loops, each one consisting of four stages.
Polonski and Sitek will start the competition a few minutes after 12, with the 26th starting number, and thus as the second among the Abarth’s. In Latvia, they will also compete in the ERC 2 category, in which after three rounds of the European Championships they take sixth place, losing 9 points to the podium.
In total, this weekend the fans will be able to see 53 crews, including two duos from Poland. Of course, ERC leaders - Łukasz Habaj and Daniel Dymurski will appear with number one.
Robert Gabryszewski (Rallytechnology team manager): "After the asphalt rally of the Canary Islands, the ERC cycle returns to a loose surface. For our team, this rally is particularly important because for the first time we will be facing gravel with an RWD car. This is a big test for Darek Poloński and Łukasz Sitek and at the same time another debut behind the wheel of an Abarth.
This year, the Latvian round has been moved from October to May, and this makes it for the crew and the entire team at the same time an important stage of preparation for the start in Poland and presenting the Abarth 124 Rally RGT for their own fans. We are all looking forward to the ERC round in the Polish Rally, but the next weekend promises to be no less exciting.
The average speeds on the special stages of the Lipawa Rally are not only the highest among the gravel rounds, but also throughout the ERC cycle, and this is the perfect recipe for a beautiful sports spectacle. We are happy that once again we can support the Poloński / Sitek duo. Ahead of them is a difficult task, but we are sure that together we will reach out for a perfect result in Latvia."
