Another dose of racing emotions is ahead of the fans. Tomorrow the long-awaited start of the FIA ERC European Rally Championship will become a reality. One would like to say that this weekend all special stages will lead to Rome - at the 8th Rally di Roma Capitale. The plans of the Rallytechnology team, however, will include two important points between 24 and 26 July, separated by more than 1,400 km.
Part of the squad is already in the Italian city of Fiuggi to support the Poloński / Sitek duo in the inaugural round of the Abarth Rally Cup. For last year's cup runners-up and the third crew of the European Championship in the RGT category, it will be the second full season in the „scorpion „rally car. Moreover, the Poles will start the Rally Rome as the fastest among the Abarth 124 Rally RGT crews competing on the routes around the Eternal City in the 2019 season. This year, they will fight for the first points with the representatives of the hosts - the duets Roberto Gobbin / Alessandro Curvi and Andrea Mabellini / Nicola Arena. Dariusz Poloński and Łukasz Sitek are also entered in the ERC general classification and in the ERC 2 and RGT Cup categories. The inauguration of the Old Continent championship is a total of 15 sports trials, covering almost 200 km of winding Italian asphalt. If you add the access sections, 85 crews will cover over 950 km for three days. In sunny Italy, there will be plenty of beautiful views outside the rally car window.
The second line-up of the team from Rybnik will stand at the starting line of the first round of the Silesian Rally Championship on Friday evening, which in the current calendar configuration will consist of five rounds. The inauguration of the cycle, however, will take place in the Opolskie Voivodeship, during the 2nd Rally of Głubczyce (24-25 July). Rallytechnology will operate both Volkswagen Polo GTI R5s. The two fastest crews of the 4th Rally Ireco Motorsport this weekend will change order on the starting list. Kasperczyk / Syty and Wróblewski / Wróbel were given the respective 1st and 2nd numbers. Behind them will be Hyundai i20 R5 (Słobodzian / Hundla and Byśkiniewicz / Cieślar). Four rally cars of the top generation R5 and 11 entries in the strongest Open 1 class are just the beginning of the emotions that fans will be able to follow on Friday evening and Saturday, on 7 special stages (47.35 km). The field counts as many as 52 teams in the Silesian Championships, which will be joined by 66 more duos that will cover the route in the Super KJS configuration (shortened to 21 km). The honorary start and the beginning of the competition on the prologue route will be on Friday after 5:30 PM, and the winners will be announced at the finish line in Głubczyce, on Saturday, a few minutes before 4:00 PM.
Robert Gabryszewski (head of the Rallytechnology team): Can there be anything more exciting than the European Championship rally weekend? Definitely yes - start in two events, so far apart from each other. There are two completely different rallies ahead of us, but the kilometers traveled will be equally important. Winding mountain roads, full of rhythmic turns and rapid falls, changing characteristics that can suddenly change into narrow parts with uneven and strongly throwing asphalt - this is the quintessence of Italian car rallies. If we add a very strong field of ERC and fast representatives of the hosts, we will get an amazing mix and a recipe for a beautiful rally.Darek and Łukasz await emotions and pressure, like after a strong espresso, because the fight with Italian rivals in the Abarth Rally Cup will not be easy. However, we came to Rome with high hopes for repeating last year's victory and we will implement this plan.
We keep our fingers crossed for our Volkswagen crews, whose driving will certainly decorate the competition in Głubczyce. The distance is less than 50 km, but no one will spare any effort this weekend.Rzeszów is fast approaching, and this is the last chance to prepare for the fight in the RSMP. If Tomek Kasperczyk and Kacper Wróblewski maintain such a fast and even pace this weekend as in the Tarmac Masters, we are confident about the level of impressions the fans will receive. We count on your cheering and that you will follow both Rallytechnology starts with clenched thumbs.
