Less than three weeks after the final of the Polish Rally Championship, the Rallytechnology team competed in the last round of the German championship. The team from Rybnik was responsible for the preparation of the Hyundai i20 R5 for the Daniel Chwist / Kamil Heller crew. The driver from Krakow faced the special stages of Baden-Württemberg for the seventh time. This time the "7" turned out to be lucky, because the 24th International ADMV Lausitz Rallye 2021 duo finished with the best results achieved so far on German gravel.
At the finish line in Boxberg, they stood on the podium of the general classification, with cups for the third place in the rally. This is not only one of the highest results from all joint starts, but above all the first podium won by Poles in the 22-year history of the competition.
The first stage of the rally started on Friday afternoon, and from the very beginning the weather provided the competitors with demanding, rainy conditions. Daniel Chwist and Kamil Heller started with the fifth result in the inaugural trial, and finished the other three attempts in the top four. They also finished the day directly behind the "general" podium for 15 Rally2 car crews.
On Saturday, an even more difficult task awaited the competitors - 8 special stages and over three times longer distance, in equally demanding conditions. The experience from the previous edition turned out to be all the more valuable for Poles. The Hyundai i20 R5 crew started fifth in the first of four loops, but firmed up to fourth place overall. On 7 trials played that day, they regularly recorded times in the top four and five. They did not avoid minor adventures, but presented a smooth, flawless ride and a good pace. Their second joint start in Lausitz, they sealed their third step on the podium. The final round of the ADMV Rallye Meisterschaft and the ERT European Rally Trophy series was won by the representatives of the hosts - Matthias Kahle and Christian Doerr (Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo), ahead of the Norwegian duo Anders Grøndal / Marius Fuglerud (Ford Fiesta Rally 2).
Robert Gabryszewski (Rallytechnology team manager): “The final of the 2021 season is extremely busy for our team. Three weeks after the asphalt Rally Kosice, last weekend we returned to the competition on the loose surface. Lausitz Rallye is a competition liked by competitors from Poland who have been coming to Boxberg for years. For us, it is an equally important rally in which we appear regularly with our crews.
We are glad that this year we contributed to the best result achieved by the "White-Reds" in the history of this competition. Daniel Chwist and Kamil Heller did not have an easy task in these rainy conditions, but they returned to the German special stages in great style. Apart from minor adventures, such as a broken gear lever on the first loop or a broken rear window, they kept a clean sheet. Hyundai also performed well, and with the aura and conditions that prevailed on the sections, it was not an easy task. Almost immediately after returning from Germany, we embarked on an even longer journey - to the FIA ERC final on sections 45. Rally Islas Canarias 2021."
