More than half of the sixteen rallies of the Rallytechnology’s this year took place outside Poland, as part of the FIA ERC, as the rounds of the German Championship or the foreign ProfiAuto RSMP rounds. In the season finale, the team from Rybnik put on the start of the national stages, as part of the 59 Rally Barbórka 2021. However, this start is associated with another unique event. This weekend, Grzegorz Bonder and Jakub Gerber will have their rally debut driving a Volkswagen Polo GTI R5.
A representative of Unique One Rally Team after the start of the Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo in Rally Świdnicki - Krause, now decided to cooperate with Rallytechnology. For the competition, which begins this evening in Pruszków, the crew will start with the 17th starting number, in Class 1, traditionally the strongest in this rally. Out of 49 teams in this group, 17 will have rally cars in the Rally2 specification. Grzegorz and Jakub will have a demanding challenge. This in no way diminishes their optimism and their appetite for driving. After successful tests, they are waiting even more impatiently for the official start and the first special stage, covered after dark. They also clearly declare their willingness to fight for promotion, to Karowa Street, to thank the fans for the entire season 2021.
In total, there are six special stages waiting for 103 crews. Half of them are completely new roadsa, included in the Barbórka schedule for the first time. OS Pruszków is one of the surprises of the organizers of this year's edition - just like Tor Słomczyn, planned for the Saturday morning loop. The Służewiec, defeated twice, and the parallel duel in Bemowo, refer to the rich sports history of the Barbórka Rally, which, after a one-year break, returns to the calendar with new energy. One thing remains unchanged - the atmosphere of the celebration of sport and the fight for the Karowa statuette.
Robert Gabryszewski (Rallytechnology team manager): “Like every Polish team, we have many beautiful memories related to this event. Last year, this iconic finals were missing, so it is even more pleased that the rally is coming back in new, such an interesting edition.
We stand at the start line with Grzesiek Bonder and Kuba Gerber, an extremely experienced crew, who will nevertheless play the role of a debutant here. I am glad that together with us, they decided to test the new car "in battle" and chose the VW Polo GTI R5. They approach this challenge with tremendous energy and a positive attitude, ready to fight. A demanding and exciting weekend is ahead of us. We invite everyone to follow the competition in the Barbórka Rally and keep your fingers crossed! ”
